Set between El Salvador and Montreal, Refuge follows Clara, a young girl whose imagination is shaped by her eccentric grandfather who introduces her to opera, poetry, and performance. As war and exile disrupt her childhood, Clara must carry the artistic rituals he taught her across borders and into adulthood, where they become the foundation of her voice.
